My first wedding film. Ian and Sam wanted something that felt like a home video, so we shot part of the day on camcorders and part on my cinema camera, then cut the two together. This is the one that made me fall in love with wedding videography, and with telling people’s stories.
Aster comes from the Greek astēr, meaning star. A star is a small point of light inside something much larger.
The name carries the meaning already inside my own. Emma, whole. Claire, clear and bright. Aster, star. It felt like provenance rather than a pretty word chosen after the fact.
The bird is the other half. Birds are observers. They belong to perspective, to movement, to seeing a familiar place from somewhere above it.
Filmmaking sits exactly between those two ideas. Light, and how you choose to see it.

I’m a designer first, which is probably why I film the way I do. I’m looking for structure inside a day that has none, and for the two seconds where somebody forgets there’s a camera in the room.
I shoot alone unless the day needs more, edit everything myself, and keep the client list short on purpose. Fewer weddings, more attention to each one.
Based in Knoxville, and happy to travel a good deal further than that.
